Pineberry serializes cartons

Erect or flat carton serialization systems can be added to any end-of-line process for efficient traceability printing and coding

The CartonTrac EC erect carton serialization system and CartonTrac FC flat carton serialization system from Pineberry Manufacturing Inc. produce superior print quality with either laser or inkjet and verify the print with a tamper-proof inline reader. Whether erect or flat, laser or inkjet, cartons are controlled throughout the process to ensure print quality and accuracy.

Designed for complex coding and high-resolution printing, the CartonTrac FC serialization system occupies a small footprint (59.5 x 32.6 in.) and marks flat cartons, bags and leaflets with serialized data, date/lot codes, UDI codes and other information.

“This is a robust solution with a small footprint that can be used next to automated cartoners or a work station for hand-fill packaging,” states David McCharles, president of Pineberry Manufacturing. It also can work as a standalone unit to pre-serialize carton blanks prior to loading into the magazine of the cartoner or serve as a leaflet verification system.

On the CartonTrac EC erect carton system, a modular vacuum conveyor simplifies installation on any end-of-line process. Fan-based technology on the vacuum transport dramatically reduces the noise level of a single pump or blower. The serialization solution integrates on any packaging line and addresses the serialization and track-and-trace requirements of various regulatory agencies.

“This is an inline, robust solution with a small footprint that can be added to any end-of-line pharmaceutical process,” explains McCharles.

Serialization requires a comprehensive system to track-and-trace the passage of prescription drugs and pharmaceutical products throughout the supply chain. Serialization makes it possible to identify every product’s serial number, origin, shelf life and batch number so products can be traced from production through distribution to the patient. With a reliable 1D and/or 2D barcode reader, pharmaceutical products can be verified to ensure 100% accuracy.
